The three-cushion world championship in 1960 was the 16th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from September 5 to 15, 1960 in Buenos Aires .
history
Buenos Aires hosted the World Cup for the fourth time after 1938, 1948 and 1952. For the first time a three-cushion world championship up to 60 points was played. The European champion René Vingerhoedt secured his second world title in three cushion. Vingerhoedt won a last match against Carlos Monestier with a heavy focus on fighting with 60:57 in 79 shots. For August Tiedtke and Johann Scherz the tournament started very exhausting. After an 18-hour journey, they had to play their first games an hour after their arrival.
