The three-cushion world championship in 1991 was the 46th edition of the three-cushion world championship, which has been held in the three- cushion pile-up variant since 1928 .
Tournament details
In 1991 it took place in the form of five World Cup tournaments . This mode was introduced in 1988. It was the World Cup in
- Ghent ( Belgium ) October 30th to November 2nd,
- Berlin ( Germany ) 22.-24. November,
- Palma ( Spain ) November 29th to December 1st,
- Seoul ( South Korea ) 13. – 15. December
- and the final in Tokyo ( Japan ) on 21. – 23. December.
The best of all tournaments was the new world champion.
The World Cup tournament, which was held in Seoul from December 13th to 15th, was the first international three-cushion tournament in South Korea. It triggered an unexpected three-band boom in Korea. Today the Koreans are among the best three-cushion players in the world and have replaced Japan as the largest three-cushion nation in Asia.
69 participants started in the five world cup tournaments.
World ranking points were awarded for the tournaments (see points key). The best point from all tournaments was the new world champion. From three tied players (150 points each) at the end of the season, Torbjörn Blomdahl became world champion because of the most victories. He was able to win two World Cups, Ceulemans and Jaspers only one each. The second and third place was decided by the better general ranking, Ceulemans came second twice and Jaspers once third.
