The three-cushion world championship in 1972 was the 27th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 3 to 12, 1972 in Buenos Aires . It was the sixth three-cushion World Cup in Buenos Aires.

history

Raymond Ceulemans secured the tenth consecutive three-cushion world title. Once again he confidently won all of his games. The Peruvian Suguimizu, of Japanese origin, was the only one to score 50 points against Ceulemans. The rest of the players scored significantly fewer points. The World Cup was very well attended. An average of 3500 to 4000 spectators were present each day.

mode

The game was played in two preliminary round groups of 7 players. The top four from each group made it to the finals. The games from the group were taken into the finals. In the groups “everyone against everyone” was played to 60 points.
