The three-cushion world championship in 1961 was the 17th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 19 to 23, 1961 in Amsterdam . It was the second three-cushion world championship in Amsterdam after 1930.

history

With the 1961 World Cup in Amsterdam, a new era began in three-cushion sport. For the first time, the 23-year-old Belgian Raymond Ceulemans took part in a three-cushion world championship. He was to have a major impact on the three-volume scene for the next 40 years. The winner was a Peruvian for the first time. At the end of a very even tournament, Adolfo Suarez won the only Peruvian title to date. Before the last round of the game, 5 players had the opportunity to win the title. Suarez won his last game against his successor Raymond Ceulemans with 60:44 in 68 shots.
