Peperomia columella is a species of the genus Peperomia from the pepper family(Piperaceae).
description
Peperomia columella grows as a terrestrial, densely branched subshrub and is up to 20 centimeters high. The ascending, stem-round shoots are succulent and are up to 1 centimeter in diameter. The alternately arranged leaves sit close to the shoots . The leaf blade is shield-shaped below the center, folded lengthways and forms a broad, linear window. The bare, smooth leaf is 8 to 12 millimeters long, 5 to 8 millimeters wide and up to 6 millimeters high. When depressed, it is obovate in cross section and ovoid in side view. Towards the tip it is pointed, at the base it is rounded. The leaf margin is provided with bladder cells. The short inflorescence consists of 2 to 5 branches with sessile, densely flowered, 10 to 18 millimeters long and up to 3 millimeters in diameter spikes . The ovary is obovate and the scar sitting.
