Christ van der Smissen (born June 22, 1954 in St. Willebrord , Netherlands) is a Dutch carom player and national coach.

Career

Van der Smissen learned to play billiards from Tony Schrauwen, among others . In 1975 he won a medal at the Dutch Three Cushion Championship (NDM) for the first time, then in 1978 his first of four gold medals. He was able to win a total of nine medals in three- cushion at the NDM , in 1978, 1980, 1986 (with a record of 1,388 at the time) and 1988. In 1980 and 1988 he took third place at the three-cushion European championship . His really strong disciplines, however, were the classic cadre and binding . He won the European Single Binding Championship four times , finished second in 1984 and third in 1981 and 1987. In 1974, 1976, 1977 and 1984 he finished second four times in the World Binding Championship . In total, he was able to win 24 medals at world and European championships.

Van der Smissen is the former national coach of the three-cushion youth team. He then worked in Nieuwegein in the association office of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Biljartbond (KNBB), where he took care of membership administration. He was, among other things, coach of Glenn Hofman .

On May 9, 2010 van der Smissen officially played his last game in the team of "'t Pleintje" and ended his active career.
