Multipurpose building of the Hodja Zaynuddin complex

The Hodja-Zaynuddin complex is an ensemble of buildings in the Uzbek city of Buxoro . The complex includes a multi-purpose building that served as both a chanaka and a mosque and a water basin (hovuz).

location

The complex is located in the historic center of Buxoro about 100 m southwest of the Kalon Mosque and about 200 m south of the Ark Citadel . The multi-purpose building is on a street corner, the water basin diagonally behind it in the middle of the city block.

history

The water basin is said to be one of the oldest Bukharas. In the 16th century, a building serving as a mosque and chanaka was erected on its southwest corner.

description

The building is crowned by a dome . On the street side to him is Pischtak with a pointed arch Ivan upstream. On the inside of the complex there is a corner ivan in front of it on two sides, the roof of which is supported by thin wooden columns.

Due to its multiple function, the same building is sometimes referred to as the Hodscha-Zaynuddin-Chanaka and sometimes as the Hodscha-Zaynuddin mosque . The tomb of Hodja Zaynuddin is also located in a niche on the outside of the building , so it also serves as a mausoleum .
