The Alvarez Condarco power plant ( Spanish Central (hidroeléctrica) Alvarez Condarco ) is a hydropower plant in the province of Mendoza , Argentina . It is also known as the Alvarez Condarco hydropower complex (Spanish Complejo hidroeléctrico Alvarez Condarco ).

Construction of the power plant began in January 2002. It was completed in October 2003. The power plant is state-owned ( Provincia de Mendoza ). The license for the operation was transferred to the CEMMPSA in December 1997.

The machine house of the Alvarez Condarco power station is located about 7 km from the Potrerillos Dam on the left bank of the Río Mendoza . From the Potrerillos dam, the water is first fed to the Cacheuta power station. After the water has passed the turbines of the Cacheuta power station, it is passed through a tunnel and then through a canal to the Alvarez Condarco power station.

The installed capacity of the Alvarez Condarco power plant with three machines is 54.94 (or 61.6) MW . The average annual production is given as 259 million  kWh .

Two Francis turbines produce a maximum of 23.3 MW each; a third Francis turbine has an output of 15 MW. The rated speed of the turbines is 375 or 333.3 min −1 . The fall height is between 80 and 84.5 m. The flow rate is between 20 and 30 m³ / s.
