Hofmark Fürstenstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hofmark Fürstenstein was a closed Hofmark with its seat in Fürstenstein , today a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau .

history

Fürstenstein was first mentioned in a document in 1366. At that time Albrecht was the Puchberg nurse in the service of the Bavarian duke . In 1381 Duke Albrecht I left the castle to Landgrave Johann von Leuchtenberg as a personal property , in 1396 it was given to Wilhelm Puchberger. After the death of his father in 1416, his son Wilhelm sold the castle to his nephews Georg and Asam as a vintner. Asam, who soon became sole owner by contract, sold the castle to Bishop Leonhard von Passau in 1435 .

This sale was reversed in 1437 and one of Asam's sons became lord of the castle. After his death in 1460, his daughter Elisabeth Fürstenstein sold the Hofmark to the Schwarzensteiners of Englburg in 1476 . Artolf Schwarzensteiner had the castle expanded into a palace in 1570. Under the Schwarzensteiners, the Hofmark got a large increase in goods. In the Historical Atlas of Bavaria the extensive goods are listed and shown on a map (see web link below).

After the Schwarzensteiners died out in 1617, the Hofmark fell to the Counts of Taufkirchen. By marriage she came into joint possession of Wilhelm Notthracht von Wernberg and Christoph von Thürheim . After 1680, the palace and the Hofmark passed to Count Ludwig von Perusa through the marriage of the heir's daughter. The Perusas never lived in the castle, but had the Hofmark administered by a caretaker.

Fürstenstein Castle came to the Grand Ducal Hessian Lieutenant General Heinrich von Oyen in 1803 . In 1836 he sold the estate to the Bavarian state and the castle to the postman Maier.
