Court Post Office

Hofpostamt was the name of a few larger, mostly royal, imperial and electoral post offices. Before the establishment of the German Empire in 1871 there were court post offices in:

• Hofpostamt (Königsberg) , Königsberg
• Hofpostamt (Dresden) , Dresden
• Hofpostamt (Braunschweig) , Braunschweig
• Hofpostamt (Schwerin) , Schwerin

After that, only the court post office in Berlin was allowed to use this title with the highest permission in order to preserve the tradition.

There were also other court post offices in:

• Hofpostamt (Augsburg) , Augsburg
• Hofpostamt (Vienna) , Vienna
