Hogmanay
Hogmanay is one of the most important Scottish festivals and is celebrated from the evening of December 31st until the early hours of January 1st .
Black bun (a type of fruit bread ) is traditionally served. Another tradition is first footing , in which you step over the threshold of neighbors and friends with a glass of whiskey , a piece of coal , a black bun , shortbread and salt .
Another Hogmanay tradition is that the participants walk around a fire clockwise and hit a goat's skin with a stick or fire tongs (see deisel ).
