The Hogmanay Pass is a 1230 m high mountain pass in Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It leads southwest of Scripps Heights from the head end of Casey Glacier to the middle section of Lurabee Glacier .
Aerial photographs by the US polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth from November 1935 were used by the US cartographer WLG Joerg for mapping purposes . Further aerial photographs were taken in 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) and in 1947 during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). A dog sled team from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey reached the pass on New Year's Eve in 1960 , on which the eponymous Scottish festival Hogmanay falls.
