The Hohe Brücke is a unique structure from the time of the mediaeval mass pilgrimage to the pilgrimage site of St. Georgenberg in Tyrol . It spans the Georgenbach gorge at a height of over 40 m and offers the only way to reach the pilgrimage site without climbing.

The current stone arch bridge, the substructure of which was bricked up after a fire when it was rebuilt in 1497 at the latest, is raised by a wooden beam structure about 50 meters long. A gatehouse was built in 1515, but it was destroyed by an avalanche in 1689. Already on views that were created around the middle of the 17th century, the bridge is shown as covered and covered with shingles.

After a devastating forest fire, which on October 31, 1705 extinguished the former mountain monastery for thirty years and forced a new monastery to be built in the valley, the Schwaz master carpenter Michael Lentner received the order for a new wooden structure, which he completed in 1709.

A final reconstruction of the gatehouse, necessary after a fire in 1819, was carried out in a neo-Gothic style. The 13.5% rising and noticeably curved bridge has a roadway width of 4.8 m and a clearance height of 2.8 m, but may not be used in general: the parking lot for day visitors to the pilgrimage site is about two kilometers away, longer ones Guests have to park their vehicles in the valley at the Fiecht Benedictine Abbey, about five kilometers away.

The 2004 Europa Nostra Award was presented for the restoration of the High Bridge, which was supervised by the Federal Monuments Office .
