route

After a city tour through Niedernhall, the route runs upstream from the Kocher through Ingelfingen to the crossing of the Kochertalstrasse just before the B19 intersection. Then it goes through the Deubachtal high up into the panoramic vineyards, past the Lichteneck ruins. After a slight up and down, it goes past the Ingelfinger Fass and Criesbach to Niedernhall. It continues through the vineyards to Weißbach and there over the vineyards above Neuwülfingen and then downstream to Forchtenberg. Above the Kochertalstraße it goes to Ernsbach and on the bike path back to Forchtenberg. In Forchtenberg, the route leads through the old town and then on the bike path to Weißbach and on towards Niedernhall. Shortly before Niedernhall, another loop is run towards Weißbach and then to the finish in Niedernhall. The StVO applies to the whole route! The route is a road race approved and tested by the WLV / DLV. The time measurement is done by ChampionChip .

The half marathon goes from Niedernhall through the city on the specially closed country road to Weißbach and on towards Forchtenberg. There the half marathon runners meet the marathon runners and run the loop via Forchtenberg towards Ernsbach and back to Forchtenberg towards Weißbach. Before Niedernhall they do not have to run the additional loop like the marathon runners, but can run straight to the finish line after Niedernhall.

The 10 km route runs like that of the half marathon, with the turning point after approx. 5 km between Weißbach and Forchtenberg and the runners then running back towards Weißbach, where the last 4 km to the final route of the marathon and half marathon to meet.

Some strange incidents so far have resulted from runners not noticing the turning points. In 1999 this happened to the two Kenyans Joshua Killy and Isaac Chemobwo on the 10 km route. Despite a detour of 4 km, they still came in 5th and 6th. The same mishap happened to their compatriot Samwel Okemwa in 2001, who originally wanted to tackle the half marathon route. Okemwa decided to run through and won the full distance with a course record.
