The High Gate ( Danish Høje Port ) was a city gate in Schleswig . It was probably built in 1564 at the transition from the old town to the Gallberg in Langen Strasse, which faces north, near the Mühlenbach. It was therefore placed in fishing at the connection point between the city and the northern surroundings and was therefore also called the Angelburger Tor (from the Danish AngelboportAngeliter Tor , in Low German : Angelbuhr Door ). In 1661, parts of the gate were redesigned, as a result of which the high gate was equipped with the characteristic tower with octagonal gallery, roof turret , clockwork and bell . The high gate later found its way into the Schleswig city arms.

In 1883/1884 the city gate was finally demolished for reasons of traffic policy, although the decision to demolish was not without controversy among the citizens. The place where the High Gate once stood is marked in the pavement of Lange Straße.
