Coordinates: 33 ° 50 '  S , 150 ° 59'  O City of Holroyd was a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Holroyd belonged to the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area was 40 km² and had about 99,000 inhabitants. In 2016 it went up in the Cumberland and City of Parramatta Council .

Holroyd was east of Prospect Reservoir about 15 miles west of Sydney city center. The area included 27 boroughs: Cardinal Gilroy Village, Girraween, Greystanes, Guildford West, Holroyd, Leawarra, Mays Hill, Merrylands West, Pemulwuy, Pendle Hill South, Sherwood Grange, South Wentworthville, Widemere, Woodpark and parts of Granville, Guildford, Guildford North, Harris Park, Merrylands, Parramatta, Pendle Hill, Prospect, Smithfield, Toongabbie, Wentworthville, Westmead and Yennora. The administrative seat of the council was in the district of Merrylands on the eastern edge of the LGA.

The Holroyd City Council had twelve members elected by the residents of the four wards (three each from North, South, East and West Ward). These four districts were defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council was also recruited from among the councilors.
