The Holter Cross is located in the Holt district in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), Hehnerholt.

The cross was built in 1870. It was entered under No. H 095 on October 10, 1995 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

The wayside cross erected as an indulgence and mission cross stands at the confluence of the street Holter Kreuz in the street Hehnerholt.

architecture

The cross stands on a high, multi-segmented base made of bluestone . Three-tiered plinth, above it a block-like plinth with a later attached plaque from 1986 with the inscription :

ST. MICHAELS / BROTHERHOOD / 1861–1986


MISSION 1912 / SAVE YOUR SOUL

Separated by a load-bearing carnation from the central part with the inscription:

JESUS ​​/ MY MERCY / CITY. 100 DAYS OJ / O PEOPLE; REMEMBER / TO YOUR LAST / END. /. A. 1.5.1870. D.

Strong, hood-like roofing with bulges as the basis for the slim shaft cross with a new wooden body.
