HolyHell is an American power metal band.

history

The band was formed in 2005 by singer Maria Breon , guitarists Joe Stump and Tom Hess , bassist Jay Rigney , keyboardist Francisco Palomo and the former drummer of the band Manowar , Kenny "Rhino" Earl , who is the only member who is already well known , founded. The name is supposed to show the connection of something opposite, here the voice of a woman and the sounds of the electric guitars.

The release of their debut album was postponed so that the band could go on the Demons, Dragons and Warriors tour with Manowar and Rhapsody of Fire in 2007, on which HolyHell had accompanied the two bands in 2005. In 2005 HolyHell also appeared at the Earthshaker Festival and the Czech metal festival Masters of Rock .

The band's first release, a single called Apocalypse , took place in March 2007. The producer was Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio , who is also the composer of the songs with Manuel Staropoli .

On June 26, 2009, the debut album HolyHell was released. It comprises 13 tracks, three of which were already included on the single Apocalypse . The total playing time is just under 71 minutes.

In early 2011, drummer Rhino left the band and has been replaced by John Macaluso (formerly Riot , Yngwie Malmsteen and others), who has been a permanent member since autumn 2011. He is working on a new album, which was announced for 2012. The album, which was titled Darkness Visible , has been postponed to autumn 2012 despite an initial announcement that it will be released parallel to the Manowar album The Lord of Steel . Instead, the EP Darkness Visible - The Warning was released, which contains three songs from the upcoming album.

In September 2012 the band announced on their Facebook page that they will be parting with the current management (and label) Magic Circle Music .

Guest musician

In the HolyHell interpretation of the song Phantom Of The Opera , Manowar singer Eric Adams can be heard as Phantom in a duet with Maria Breon.

In return, Francisco Palomo can be heard from time to time as a guest keyboarder at Manowar.
