Magic Circle Music (short MCM ) / Magic Circle Entertainment is an American metal - label , which in 2003 by Manowar -Bassisten Joey DeMaio was founded. The name of the label is derived from the music drama Ring des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner , which Joey DeMaio adores.
General
The label mainly has bands that play both classic and progressive power metal . It also sells Joey DeMaio's own band Manowar and other true and heavy metal bands. Distribution in Europe was initially handled by the German record label SPV , and since 2009 marketing has been carried out by ALIVE .
history
After Manowar had celebrated their first major successes, they had to stay on the market. During this time, the band also saw many other bands disappear from the market and get lost due to increasing commercialization . As a result, bassist Joey DeMaio founded his own record label to intercept such bands and keep them on the market. First he marketed his own band Manowar, later some other bands and artists, such as Luca Turilli or Rhapsody of Fire , joined.
In 2007 the Magic Circle Festival started for the first time in Bad Arolsen , Germany. It was launched by Magic Circle Music and has been held annually since then. In addition to the headliner Manowar, other bands and artists who are under contract with Magic Circle Music usually play at the festival.
