Dreamquest was a music group founded in Trieste that was active from 2006 to 2011. The band leader and composer was Luca Turilli , who is also the guitarist and co-founder of Rhapsody of Fire (until 2011) and Luca Turilli's Rhapsody . Dreamquest's style is symphonic metal with dominant electronic influences.

history

After the foundation in 2005, Luca Turilli was looking for a singer and other band members. He chose the female voice because he liked groups like Within Temptation and Nightwish , but soundtracks like those from the films Resident Evil and Matrix were also significantly inspired by “Dreamquest”.

In the end, the positions were filled as follows: Luca Turilli on keyboard , Dominique Leurquin on electric guitar , Sascha Paeth on electric bass , Robert Hunecke-Rizzo on drums and an unknown mezzo-soprano as the voice of just "Myst" "Dreamquest". With this line-up, the group's first album, "Lost Horizons", was released on June 9, 2006 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, on June 12 in the rest of Europe and on June 27 in the USA under the Magic Circle sub- label Music released.

In 2011, Luca Turilli announced the end of the project.

style

Typical of “Dreamquest” is the female, partly operatic voice of the mezzo-soprano “Myst”, symphonic orchestral arrangements, dominant synthesizers and keyboards, as well as the mostly quite simple guitar riffs, which are often reminiscent of the New German Hardship . The drumming should also be noted, which, unlike the genre, often only uses the bass drum during the choruses.

Lyrically and musically, “Dreamquest” is based on bands like Within Temptation and Nightwish . As far as possible, Turilli tells of longings, symbolisms (rose, mother, ocean) and hopes, and uses lyrical elements such as energy, angels, darkness and death. The lyrics are mostly in English, with some Latin passages appearing here and there and even a full song is Italian ( Sospiro Divino ).
