The Holzfachschule is a state-recognized central vocational school for the woodworking industry in Bad Wildungen .

history

The Bad Wildungen wood technical school was opened on April 10, 1953 as the central vocational school for sawmills. It emerged from the "Berufsserziehungsstätte Sägewerke eV Berleburg", which was opened in August 1942. It consisted of four classroom buildings with an attached boarding school, a training sawmill and an administrative building with a kitchen and dining room. Courses were offered for gate operators and saw sharpeners and for employees in the areas of round timber, sawn timber and wood drying.

Today the wood technical school, to which a technical and master school, the "Bundesfachschule Modellbau Bad Wildungen", the "Technologie Transfer Holzwirtschaft" and the "Zentrum Holz Energie Umwelt und Sicherheit" ZHEUS are affiliated, is a state-recognized "Central Vocational School" for woodworking the federal states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Bremen and Schleswig-Holstein. It consists of 15 individual buildings with 20 classrooms, such as a computer room, two drawing rooms, an auditorium and living areas in the form of a boarding school. The training sawmill with drying chamber forms the core of training in woodworking. The carpentry area with a total of four independent machine rooms for parallel operation including CNC machining includes three separate bank rooms and a paint shop for training and further education in wood processing. The federal technical school for model making within the wood school includes two complete machine rooms including complex CNC / CAD equipment and an attached bench room. There are online connections between the computer room and all CNC machines for the CNC implementation of the exercises on the processing machines. The school is supplemented by a sharpening shop, tool maintenance and a metalworking workshop.

The school is run by the Holzfachschule Bad Wildungen gGmbH and employs full-time teachers who are supported by part-time vocational school teachers. For seminars and special courses as well as special subjects in the master craftsman's training, speakers from the operational consultancy and the management level of the wood industry and its suppliers are employed.

The Holzfachschule Bad Wildungen gGmbH is a 100% subsidiary of the Fachverband Leben Raumgestaltung Hessen.

The boarding school is located decentrally in nine buildings and is supplemented by a cafeteria.

The school houses an extensive collection of wood samples, materials and parts, which also includes a cabinet of curiosities for growth peculiarities.

For more than 30 years, the Federal Association of Wood and Plastic Processing Crafts has been holding the federal performance competition for young craftspeople in the carpentry trade at the woodworking school.

Some association meetings at federal and state level are held in the school, B. the annual management courses held in spring and autumn by the Association of Wood and Plastic Processing Crafts in Hesse and the Northwest German Hardwood Day.
