Wood craftsman is an apprenticeship in Switzerland .

history

The woodworking profession was created when the professions of white cooper and wood turner were merged . The corresponding ordinance came into force on January 1, 2009.

education

The training lasts four years. The subjects offered are wood turnery and white cooperage. The three learning locations are company, vocational school and inter-company courses . The only Swiss vocational school for this training is the School for Wood Sculpture in Brienz . Lessons take place in blocks: 4 blocks of 2 weeks each per year.

Sponsorship

The training is carried out by the Swiss Association of Master Turners and the Wood Crafts Association.

Related professions

Related professions are basket and wickerwork , cooper and wood carver . Individual parts of the training are taught together in these professions.

Training opportunities

Possible additional apprenticeships are carpenter and wood sculptor . As a professional examination (BP) can wood specialist with federal. Certificate can be obtained. There is a master wood turner as a higher professional examination (HFP) . A wood technology technician can be acquired at the higher technical school . Finally, there is the possibility of studying wood engineer FH , interior designer FH , restorer FH or industrial designer FH at a university of applied sciences .
