Holzmühle is a wasteland of the Remlingen market in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .

Geographical location

Holzmühle is located in the south of the municipality of Remlingen. To the north is the so-called Mühlholz, a forest, further to the north is Remlingen. The north-east is taken by Uettingen . The mill is connected to the village via State Road 2310, which is part of the Romantic Road there . In the south the federal motorway 3 runs some distance . To the west, also connected to the mill by the state road, is Holzkirchen .

history

The history of the mill is closely linked to that of the nearby Holzkirchen monastery . The Benedictine monks, who also ruled Remlingen in the Middle Ages, set up a mill on the Aalbach there. After the dissolution of the monastery, the mill probably came into private hands. In 1953 there were already two mills in the area that belonged to the Väth and Förster families.

Attractions

The old mill buildings have largely been preserved and are managed by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments . The center is the mill built in 1832. It is a two-storey gable roof building on a hooked floor plan and is surrounded by a few outbuildings and stables . The old mill equipment is still in one of the outbuildings. One cellar is marked with the year "1737".
