Homar Murdoch

Homar Murdoch (born September 29, 1915 , † December 23, 1996 ) was a Uruguayan military, politician and diplomat .

From 1959 to 1962 Murdoch headed the "Escuela Naval". He was then a naval attaché in the USA from 1962 to 1964 . From May 7, 1965 to May 4, 1967 he exercised the fleet command . Politically he was close to the Partido Nacional and within this lista 51 by Daniel Fernández Crespo . After retiring from military service, he has been involved in Por la Patria since 1970 . The sea ​​captain Murdoch, who was retired at the time , had been chairman of the Partido Nacional since March 11, 1972 in the run-up to the coup in Uruguay in 1973. In the wake of the coup he was brought before a military tribunal. The indictment was published on June 6, 1973, and Murdoch was finally sentenced to jail on June 25, 1973. After Uruguay returned to democracy in the mid-1980s, he was ambassador to Bolivia from March 18, 1991 . Murdoch was married and had five children.
