HomeRekords is a compilation album by the Swiss band Züri West . It was released on April 23, 2010 on the Sound Service and Weltrekords labels.

History of origin

The 16 songs on the album is a selection of unreleased songs, demo recordings and alternative versions. The compilation was made by the band in the U3 and Besconi studios in Bern and was a band decision after the mixing. The mix and mastering was done by Oli Bösch. Stefan Mischler and Hans Schneeberger acted as executive producers. In fact, little was changed in the songs, only the volume level was adjusted so that the songs on the album look like a piece. The lion's share of the songs is from 1996 to 2008, only LIMS is a find from the 1980s.

The album was in the Swiss charts for 19 weeks , including one week at number 1 . The album went platinum in 2010 .

Cover

Contrary to the usual tradition, the cover of the album is a current band photo. The bass player wore the eye patch due to an accident with the paraglider .

additional

Züri West offered nine of the 16 tracks as a version without vocals for download on their website. with the request:

« Download our demos and make your own Züri West demo tape! Sing about it, play something on it, cut it and send it back! We will publish the songs here. »

The results were published on Youtube and Soundcloud and linked from the band's website.

review

The reviews range from cautious to a purchase recommendation. Although the songs come from different decades, the album comes along as a whole. Still, some of the songs rustle and whistle. The song Lukis Loki was described as infantile. The insight into the creative process of the band is definitely appreciated, but this is also the reason for the restrained reviews. The lack of editing of the songs and the "insight into the studio of the musicians" were also the explicit goals of the band.
