Homeless Kings are a four-piece German - Austrian rock band from Traunstein and Abtenau .
history
The band was founded in November 2016 in Traunstein. Before that, Dominik Dell and Erich Winkler were involved in another joint band project, which was dissolved in August 2016. Andi Loipfinger was also previously involved with Dell in an Irish folk project that had also disbanded the year before.
In order to get a new project off the ground, Dell, Winkler and Josef Gappmaier, a longtime friend of Winkler, agreed to meet up for a band rehearsal in October 2016. New songs were created in a new, somewhat heavier style of music. As a musical extension, Dell invited his former bandmate Lopifinger to another band rehearsal, who was able to establish himself immediately in the band. The new project "Homeless Kings" was born.
In the first six months of the band, some club gigs were played mainly in Austria, and the band quickly gained a fan base.
In April 2017, the first record deal was signed with the Salzburg label Allcord and the date for the release of the debut album Broken Queen was announced.
In the further course of the first year of the band, the band was allowed to support the rock band The Dead Daisies in the Rockhouse in Salzburg, announce further club and festival gigs and in summer 2017 release the first single, Summer's End , including a video of the following debut album.
The release show of the album Broken Queen was set for September 30, 2017. The Rockhouse Bar in Salzburg was chosen as the location. Since then, the band has been touring Austria and Bavaria with the current album.
In May 2018, the video for the second single, Stay Hungry , was released.
style
The music of Homeless Kings is mostly influenced by American punk rock, with heavier rock riffs also influencing their genre. With the smoky voice of the singer, whose vocals are more reminiscent of folk hymns, the four of them merge into their very own rock genre that cannot easily be pigeonholed.
