Homero Castillo

Homero Castillo (born December 7, 1918 in Valparaíso , † January 7, 1980 in Davis ) was an American Romance and Hispanic scholar of Chilean origin.

Life

Castillo completed a liberal arts degree in Valparaíso in 1944 and went to the United States. He taught Spanish at St. Louis University and Northwestern University . In 1953 he received his doctorate from the University of Chicago with the work Mariano Latorre , cuentista y novelista de Chile . He was Professor of Romance Languages ​​at the University of Iowa from 1964 to 1966 and Professor of Spanish at the University of California, Davis from 1966 until his death .
