Homonotus is a genus of the wasps (Pompilidae). Only one species occurs in Europe, Homonotus sanguinolentus (Fabricius, 1793).

features

The species of the genus Homonotus are medium-sized wasps whose bodies are characteristically projectile-shaped. Her head has a convex fron, the vertex and temples are sharply edged. The frontal plate ( clypeus ) is elongated and flat. Their apical edge is convex. The labrum is covered by the front plate. The antennae are short, the third segment is about 2 to 2.2 times as long as it is thick. The mandibles have an additional tooth. The pronotum is longer than the mesoscutum. The metanotum has double processes behind. The metapostnotum is covered by the metanotum and only visible from the side. The propodeum has posterolateral triangular processes, the back is long and smooth. The forewings are slightly brownish in color. The pterostigma is large, the third submarginal cell is longer than the second. The legs have short thorns. The thorns of the middle and posterior rails ( tibia ) are whitish. The tarsi of the front legs have no tarsal crests in the females. All claws are bifid. The first sternum has an extension in the middle.

Way of life

The wasps hunt spiders of the Miturgidae family .
