Honcques Laus ( Cantonese : 劉康 , born October 10, 2001 ) is a student activist , writer and chairman of the Hong Kong Utilitarian Party.

biography

Honcques Laus was born in Hong Kong on October 10, 2001. Honcques studied at the Kwai Chung Methodist Secondary School and is currently studying at the Open University in Hong Kong. Honcques is an independent Hong Kong supporter. The 2014 Umbrella Revolution made Honcques take an interest in public affairs and support the implementation of democracy in Hong Kong. On November 16, 2017, when Honcques and Chief Executive Carrie Lam took a group photo, they held up the slogan "Hong Kong Independence" to protest the Hong Kong government's continued suppression of the independence movement and freedom of speech. On June 29, 2019, Honcques founded the Hong Kong Utilitarian Party. In August 2019 Honcques published a book "輕 論 時政".

Political event

On November 16, 2017, Honcques held the slogan "Hong Kong Independence" on the back of Director-General Carrie Lam at the journalists' opening ceremony of the 21st Ming Pao Campus to protest the Hong Kong government's continued suppression of the independence movement and freedom of speech .

Then the Kwai Chung Methodist School warned Honcques and asked to meet the parents. He also said that if he got behind Carrie Lam's back, he would remember the slogan "Hong Kong Independence". Honcques believes the demonstration is an appropriate expression of rights. He does not believe that the protest against the Hong Kong government was wrong and that he was dissatisfied with the school. Mr Honcques said he would not be afraid of being oppressed and giving up the right to demonstrate. He planned to distribute a leaflet promoting Hong Kong independence outside of Kwai Chung Methodist School on November 24th.

On November 24, Honcques teamed up with Democrats outside the Kwai Chung Methodist School to endorse Honcques and criticized the school's political pressure to encroach on freedom of expression. At the same time, the school did not allow Liu Kang to leave the school for more than 2 hours for so-called security reasons. Honcques criticized that the school's approach was unreasonable. And Honcques still has a few people at the school gate to protest against the school. After the protest, the Honcque school did not suppress freedom of speech.
