Lists on the subject

The FN-6 (alternative name: FeiNu-6 or the export name FN-6 ) is a Chinese , shoulder-supported and mobile (FB-6A) short-range ground-to-air missile system . It is used to combat helicopters and fighter planes at low altitudes. The HongYing 6 anti-aircraft missile system was developed in parallel with the QianWei series.

technology

The FN-6 has an infrared seeker head that is supposed to be largely resistant not only to IR decoys , but also to interference from solar and ground heat. The percentage hit probability is given as about 70%. The pyramid-shaped rocket tip contains the infrared seeker head, which can capture targets from all directions ("all-aspect"). The shoulder-mounted rocket launcher is equipped with an optical aiming system and an IFF antenna . The response time is ten seconds. The batteries for the power supply and the cooling system are located in the handle under the launch tube.

A mobile variant of the FN-6 called FB-6A has been available since 2014 . In this version, 2 starting blocks, each with 4 FN-6 missiles, are mounted on an off-road vehicle or a truck. 1 to 6 vehicles form an anti-aircraft battery, another vehicle forms the command and radar unit with a phased array radar . The mobile system is produced in the PR China and Sudan. The FB-6A system is similar in shape and design to the American AN / TWQ-1 Avenger .

Countries of operation

Although the QianWei-2 system is a more powerful shoulder-based air defense system, the HongYing-6 is in use with the People's Liberation Army . It was also delivered to Sudan in 2008 .

Since the beginning of 2013, Qatar has been supplying weapons of this type to the "rebels" who use them against the government troops in the Syrian civil war . A rebel commander lamented the unreliability of the system, which in two cases even led to the missile exploding during take-off, with two dead and several wounded among the operating crew. It also became known that the weapons system was apparently supplied by Sudan , where the military industry corporation was built with Chinese and Iranian support .
