Hong Kun-pyo (born March 21, 1965 ) is a former South Korean cross-country skier .

Career

Hong started internationally for the first time at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1985 in Seefeld in Tyrol . There he finished 77th place over 15 km and 72nd place over 30 km. In early March 1986, he won the silver medal with the relay at the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo . At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where he was the flag bearer for South Korea at the opening ceremony, he came in 73rd place over 30 km classic, 71st place over 15 km classic and 51st place over 50 km freestyle . Together with Cho Sung-hoon , Park Ki-ho and Jun Jeung-hae , he achieved 15th place in the season. The following year he ran at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti on 69th place over 15 km freestyle and 59th place over 15 km classic. At the Winter Asian Games in 1990 in Sapporo, he again won the silver medal with the relay. He completed his last international race at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 in Val di Fiemme . There he finished 74th place over 10 km classic, 52nd place over 15 km freestyle and 43rd place 69th place over 50 km freestyle.
