Hong Soo-hwan

Hong Soo-hwan (born May 26, 1950 in Seoul ) is a former South Korean boxer in super bantam and bantamweight .

Career

On May 10, 1969, Hong made his professional debut and achieved only one draw. On July 3, 1974, he became the bantamweight world champion of the WBA when he defeated Arnold Taylor by unanimous judge decision. He defended this title in December of the same year and lost it on March 14 of the following year to Alfonso Zamora through a classic knockout in round 4.

In November 1977 he won the WBA super bantamweight championship belt with a technical knockout victory in round 3 against Hector Carrasquilla . The following year he was able to defend this title against Yu Kasahara and lost it to Ricardo Cardona by TKo in the 12th round in a fight scheduled for 15 rounds.

In 1980 he ended his career.
