Honorio Arteaga is a former Mexican football player at the position of the striker .

biography

From the difficult to understand dates of his life we only know that Arteaga was under contract at the beginning of his active career with Club Leonés , whose soccer team played in the Mexican capital league for two seasons (1931/32 and 1932/33) . In the 1932/33 season, the capital league was divided into two divisions and the Leonés played in the second season. This corresponded to the sporting rank of a second league. In this season Honorio Arteaga, tied with Nicolás Tapia from league rival México , was the most successful goalscorer with eight goals (in eight games) and thus played a significant role in the Leonés' season victory.

It is not known for which team (s) Arteaga laced the football boots in the following years. It can only be understood that it between 1940/41 and 1946/47 in the UD Moctezuma was under contract and then at their city rivals A.DO Arteaga won with Moctezuma twice (1943 and 1947) the Mexican cup competition and in 1947 also the Supercup by a 3-0 win against champions Atlante .

Arteaga was one of only four players who were there in both 1943 and 1947 in the greatest successes in the club's history (the cup wins and the subsequent Supercup finals). The other three were goalkeeper Evaristo Murillo , midfielder Dolores Araujo and striker Alfonso Arnáez .
