Horst Bleeker

Horst Bleeker (born June 17, 1938 in Bremen ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. He started for the Bremen Sport Club .

Bleeker won three German championships:

  • 1957 over 200 and 400 m freestyle
  • 1959 over 100 m freestyle

In 1956 he was a participant in the Melbourne Olympics . In the 100 m freestyle he was eliminated in 1: 00.1 min. With the 4 × 200 m - freestyle relay (Hans Kohler, Hans-Joachim Reich , Hans Zierold and Horst Bleeker), however, he came to the final and finished second in 8: 43.4 min Place 5. The Olympic victory came on. Australia in the world record time of 8: 23.6 min.

In 1958 Bleeker was victorious in the international swimming competition Germany-Holland over 400 m freestyle in 4: 39.4 minutes.

On May 7, 1960 he was honored with the silver laurel leaf for his athletic achievements.
