Horst Bormann

Horst Bormann (born November 3, 1941 ) is a former German football player. He played for BSG Chemie Zeitz in the GDR league for seven years and was his team's top scorer five times.

Athletic career

Horst Bormann's football career began in the youth department of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Zeitz. After he had meanwhile played at the sports community in neighboring Bornitz and helped the team to rise to the fourth-class district class in 1964, Bormann returned to Chemie Zeitz at the beginning of the second half of the 1966/67 season. There he played three seasons in the second-rate GDR league . Already in his first GDR league appearance, he scored both goals in the away game against Nordhausen for a 2-1 away win. In the following two seasons Bormann was set as a striker, played 57 of the total of 30 league games and was the Zeitzer's top scorer with ten and seven goals respectively. After the 1968/69 season, Chemie Zeitz had to relegate to the district league, and it was not until 1971 that the promotion succeeded. In the 1971/72 season, Bormann was only absent from one point game, but scored twelve goals in his 19 missions. He was not again the best scorer of his team, but also the top scorer of the league season E. 1972/73 Bormann took a break from football for professional reasons, but returned to the GDR league in 1973/74, now almost 32 years old. He repeated that again in his last GDR league season, when he scored the most goals for his team in 19 of 22 league games with nine goals. Within six seasons he had played 128 games in the GDR league and went off the field as a goal scorer 52 times. As a leisure footballer, he played for Chemie Zeitz in the 2nd and 3rd team as well as in the traditional team in the following years.
