Horst Herz (* 1954 in Bad Friedrichshall ) is a German filmmaker , film producer and photographer .

Life

Herz grew up as the son of German Bohemians who were expelled from the Czech Republic in Bad Friedrichshall and from the age of 7 in Nuremberg- Almoshof. In the 1970s he did an apprenticeship as a photographer and was employed as a fashion and advertising photographer for a few years before he went freelance as a photographer. He also made experimental films and was a co-founder of the Nuremberg Film Factory and the Kino im KOMM. In 1978 he made his Abitur on the second path of education.

In the 1980s he moved to the Ruhr area , where he studied film with Adolf Winkelmann and Claudia von Alemann . In the 1990s he was on the board of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dokumentarfilm and the Filmbüro NRW for many years and worked as a curator on exhibitions, series of events and film days (including "Sehabventure" with Johan van der Keuken , " Auschwitz - Against Forgetting"). He is a member of selection and funding bodies (including the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen ). He teaches documentary film with Klaus Wildenhahn at the Münster Film Workshop . In addition to feature documentaries and short films, he has produced numerous TV documentaries.
