Horst Hischer

Horst Hischer (born January 3, 1943 in Braunschweig ) is a German textbook author and emeritus university professor for mathematics and its didactics at the University of Saarland .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1962, Hischer studied mathematics, physics, education and philosophy at the Technical University of Braunschweig . In 1968 the first state examination for teaching at secondary schools in mathematics, physics and philosophy followed. In the same year he passed the main physics examination at the TU Braunschweig. In 1975, Hischer was one of the founding members of the Society for Didactics of Mathematics (GDM). In 1976 he received his doctorate from the Technical University of Braunschweig on the subject of the construction of normal matrices . In the summer semester of 2000, Hischer was appointed professor at the University of Saarland to the chair for mathematics and its didactics in the field of mathematics in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. He retired on April 1, 2007.

Hischer is known to the public due to the large number of his specialist books in the field of mathematics, which he wrote over a period of over 40 years.
