Horst Ihde

Horst Ihde (born February 3, 1935 in Parchim ; † March 1, 2014 ) was a German Americanist .

Life

Ihde graduated from high school in Parchim in 1954 and then began studying at the Philosophical Faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . After the state examination in 1959 he became an assistant to Karl-Heinz Wirzberger . In 1965 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1970 Ihde was appointed lecturer in US literature. He completed his habilitation in 1974 and was appointed full professor three years later . His main areas of research were the literature and the cult of the African American . In 1992 Horst Ihde was given early retirement.
