Horst Körner (politician)

Horst Körner (born September 10, 1935 in Neudorf near Kreuzburg / Upper Silesia ) is a Lower Saxony politician ( CDU ) and member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Körner first passed the secondary school leaving certificate and attended high school in Salzgitter-Bad. After completing his school education, he began his middle civil servant career with the Deutsche Bundesbahn . For a period of twenty years he was a freelance employee of the Braunschweiger Zeitung (Salzgitter-Zeitung). He also became a member of the Junge Union and joined the CDU in 1964. Körner was appointed a member of the supervisory board of the housing company mbH in Salzgitter as well as the second chairman of the Harzclub branch association Salzgitter. He was also a board member of the “Work and Life” educational association in Salzgitter.

Körner was elected a member of the Salzgitter-Süd local council in 1972. In 1981 he became mayor of Salzgitter. In 1976 he moved to the city of Salzgitter as a member of the city council. He was also a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in the ninth electoral period from January 27, 1982 to June 20, 1982.
