Horst Neumann (Manager)

Horst Neumann (born June 26, 1949 in Leverkusen ) is a German trade union official and a former board member of ThyssenKrupp Elevator , Audi and Volkswagen AG .

Life

Neumann studied economics and social sciences in Hamburg and Berlin from 1967 to 1973. Then he was an advisor to the Senator for Economics in Berlin, Karl König (until 1975) and Wolfgang Lüder (until 1978). From 1978 to 1994 he was in the economic department of the IG Metall board . He was also a member of the supervisory boards of Motorenwerke Mannheim AG (1981–1986), Adam Opel AG (1985–1995) and Rasselstein AG (1986–1994). He moved to the executive board of the latter in 1994, where he was Labor Director of Rasselstein GmbH and Rasselstein Hoesch GmbH. 1995 doctorate he on comparison of the competitive strength of the German and Japanese automotive industry in Berlin Dr. rer. pole. In 2001, Neumann moved to the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG as Labor Director . In 2002, Neumann became a member of the board of management of Audi AG, with responsibility for human resources and social affairs. In December 2005, Neumann succeeded Peter Hartz as a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG , where he was responsible for personnel and organization. Neumann retired on December 31, 2015. From 1997 to 2007 Horst Neumann was in a relationship with the SPD politician Andrea Nahles .
