Horst Reimann (sociologist)

Horst Reimann (born January 29, 1929 in Halle an der Saale ; † October 4, 1994 ) was a German sociologist.

Life

He studied philosophy, economics, political science, German, art history and history in Leipzig , Berlin and Heidelberg . His teacher was, among others, Alfred Weber (1868-1958). In 1956 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg on the problems of male, young German refugees after the Second World War. He then worked at the Institute for Journalism in Heidelberg, which Wilhelm Emil Mühlmann converted into the Institute for Sociology and Ethnology in 1960 . There habilitated Reimann 1967 on the sociological basis of Communication Studies. After a visiting professorship at the University of Pittsburgh , Reimann accepted the position of the University of Augsburg in 1970 , where he received the chair of sociology, which was expanded to include the chair of sociology and communication studies in 1982 . He was also vice president of the university from 1981 to 1984 .
