Horst Schlimper

Horst Schlimper (born October 16, 1915 in Leipzig , † May 2, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ) and sports official. He was Deputy Minister for Transport in the GDR and President of the General German Motorsport Association (ADMV).

Life

Schlimper attended high school and completed an engineering degree. He then worked as a motor vehicle engineer and sales representative. During the Second World War he did military service .

In 1946 Schlimper joined the SED and headed the Jena Road Traffic Office . He was then head of the main transport department in the Thuringian state government and, from 1950 to 1961, head of the " motor transport " department in the GDR Ministry of Transport . From 1961 to 1980 he was Deputy Minister for Transport.

From 1966 he was Vice President and from 1978 to 1990 President of the ADMV. From 1978 to 1990 he was also a member of the federal board of the German Gymnastics and Sports Association . He last lived as a pensioner in Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten .
