Horst Scholze

Horst Scholze (born October 5, 1921 in Sohland on the Spree ; † June 12, 1990 in Würzburg ) was a German glass chemist. He researched u. a. the sol-gel process and founded Ormosil research.

Life

Horst Scholze completed his chemistry studies in Würzburg in 1951. He then worked as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Silicate Research from 1953 to 1961 . In 1959 he completed his habilitation with the work The installation of water in glasses . From 1963 to 1971 he was professor and director of the new institute for silicate technology at the TU Berlin . From 1971 until his retirement in 1986 he worked as director of the new Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research in Würzburg.
