Horst Weiß (mechanical engineer)

Horst Weiß (born September 22, 1937 in Uelzen ) is a German mechanical engineer and emeritus professor of materials science and testing at the University of Siegen .

Live and act

Horst Weiß studied at the RWTH Aachen , where he was active in the Corps Silesia Breslau in Cologne and Aachen and was reciprocated in 1958. In 1968 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. From the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy at the Technical University of Berlin . PhD.

After professional positions in, among other places, Mount Waverly, Victoria , Australia and Bremen , he was offered a professorship for materials science and testing at the University of Siegen in 1990. In the same year he founded the laboratory for surface technology there . In 2003 he retired. The focus of his scientific work in the field of materials technology was, in particular, surface technology.

He is the patron of the Mubea Academy , an internal training program of the Mubea Group .
