Horst Wein

Horst Wein (* 1941 in Hanover ; † February 14, 2016 in Barcelona ) was a German national hockey player, coach of the German and Spanish national hockey teams , master coach of the Fédération Internationale de Hockey and internationally recognized trainer of football coaches .

Life

Horst Wein has published more than 30 sports books and numerous articles in relevant magazines, he was the author of videos and DVDs and a professional advisor for hockey software. Wein played 40 international matches and then became a German national hockey coach in 1969. In 1972 he was the hockey director of the hockey tournament at the Olympic Games in Munich and in 1973 he moved to Spain as national coach. At the beginning of the 1980s, he switched to football as a trainer and developed a training model for children and young people that took into account the "street soccer " way of thinking and playing . His works are published in German, Spanish, English, Dutch, Italian, Japanese and Russian. The American sports publisher Human Kinetics described Wein as "perhaps the world's foremost mentor of football coaches".

Horst Wein lived in the immediate vicinity of Barcelona, ​​was a widower and father of two sons (one of them, Christian, was European champion with Germany in 1999 and 2003 and hockey world champion in 2002).
