The Horta Barbosa was a Brazilian oil tanker .

history

The ship was built in 1969 at Odense Staalskibsværft in Lindø , Denmark. The tanker registered in Brazil had a dead weight of 116,750 tons.

On December 19, 1972, the ship collided with the Sea Star in the Gulf of Oman . Both ships caught fire. The fire on board the Horta Barbosa was extinguished within a day. The ship was then repaired at a Hamburg shipyard and put back into service in November 1973.

In September 1998, the ship was scrapped at the shipbuilding yards near Chittagong in Bangladesh .
