Hossein Noori Hamedani or Hossein Nuri Hamedani ( Persian حسين نورى همدانى; * 1926 (1304 according to the Iranian calendar ) in Hamadan ) is a Grand Ayatollah who is counted among the religious-political hardliners of Shiite scholars in Iran . He was one of the supporters of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad , who in turn can be considered his follower in the religious field.

origin

Hossein Noori Hamedani was born in Hamadan in 1926 as the son of Hodschatoleslam Ibrahim Noori Hamedani.

Fatwas and views

In a recent, undated legal opinion ( fatwa no. 2959), Hamedani answers the question up to what point in time the fatwa of a deceased legal scholar must be followed. Hamedani comes to the conclusion that it is not lawful to continue to follow the fatwa of a deceased legal scholar. Only a living legal scholar can give his followers permission to follow the deceased's fatwas if they want to follow his legal opinion. This on the condition that these followers must have followed the fatwas of the deceased for a long time, and that the latter must have been an (extremely) recognized scholar.

With regard to the death of Grand Ayatollah Montazeri , who had declared the current Ahmadinejad government to be unlawful in a fatwa, correlations with Noori's most recent fatwa could be identified.

Another fatwa (No. 2862) excludes the possibility of taking off the Hejab temporarily if this would be necessary for studying at a foreign university.

Murder call

Hamedani is one of the four Shiite ayatollahs from Qom who wrote an appeal for murder against the Iranian-born Cologne rapper Shahin Najafi . The call was the subject of demonstrations around the world.
