AcceleRacers is a computer-animated cartoon series produced by the Canadian company Mainframe Entertainment on behalf of Mattel and broadcast in Germany on Super RTL . Numerous toys , primarily vehicle models, were also offered by Mattel for the series. The series is a sequel to the film Hot Wheels Highway 35 .

The series is about races in fictional environments, these belong to the realm of races . This was done by a scientist, Dr. Peter Tezla discovered. The access to it is the wheel of power . This is a very powerful source of energy, which was developed by the builders of the realm of races and left behind on earth. This wheel comes into the possession of the racing drones , robots whose leader aims to take over the world. This is to be done using the wheel of power and sources of energy hidden in the realm of races, the Accelechargern . To prevent this, Dr. Tezla two racing teams that are supposed to invade the realm of races and secure the Accelecharger before the drones can get them. The end of the story is open.

action

After Dr. Tezla's drivers successfully exited Highway 35 and deposited the wheel of power in HotWheels City , Gelorum, the antagonist of HotWheels Highway 35 , discovered and mobilized the racing drones that were disabled in an unknown location on Earth. Using the drones, she stole the wheel of power from HotWheels City and built a fortress. From then on she used the wheel of power to send her drones into the realm of races. This consists of numerous individual racetracks, some of which are constructed very differently and usually have to be driven under extreme conditions (extreme weather, particularly hard obstacles, etc.).

After Dr. Tezla barely survived the drone attack on HotWheels City, so he tries to collect racers who would help him defeat the drones. First he takes some drivers who took part in Highway 35, but they fail to defeat the drones and went missing one after the other in different racing areas.

He then sends his personal robot assistant to track down other drivers. He meets two road racing teams , the Teku and the Metal Maniacs , who are currently racing against each other. The teams, whose drivers partly consist of participants on Highway 35, accept the offer and meet another Tezla driver at his old base. After a short meeting, he then leads them to Tezla's new camouflaged base. Shortly after their arrival, a racetrack becomes accessible that they enter. On their first contact with the drones, they are inferior to them and lose some vehicles as well as the race.

After upgrading their vehicles and analyzing the drones' driving behavior, the drivers manage to match the drones and even beat them in several areas.

At a later race in the city, a racetrack through a large city, the drivers make contact with a new faction, the mute drivers. This site is very mysterious and has a technology that is far superior to the other teams. They can camouflage their vehicles and have an EMP generator on board their vehicles. From this point onwards, most of the victories and therefore most AcceleChargers will be won by this team. In the meantime, despite the development of new vehicles such as the railroad clearer, a vehicle the size of a heavy truck that was built to find, catch and dismantle enemy vehicles, the racing drones hardly manage to win.

A Metal Maniacs driver had an accident in the scrap area, a stretch through a huge scrap yard. The drones capture him and learn from him where Dr. Tezla's base is located. They find him, penetrate there and occupy him. The drivers are now on a rescue mission to save their lost comrade. They took control of a lane clearer so that after the race they could come out in the portal of the drones and not in their own. They succeed in finding the driver and freeing them. Then they return without their cars, because they only thanks to the 'NRE button': (NRE N otfall R ettungs E from inrichtung) HotWheels City were able to escape, caught up in their own base back and be in a battle with the drones. One of them, Vert Wheeler, the winner of Highway 35, competes against and defeats the leader of the drones. Meanwhile, the drivers, who are enormously numerically inferior to the drones, flee and blow up the base. All drones are destroyed in the process. Wheeler wins the race against Gelorum and then wants to return to the base to support his friends in the fight against the drones. Since the base and with it the portal have now been destroyed and the drones' portal is no longer operational because their leader, who controlled the portal's energy source, has fallen, he ends up in the base of the silent drivers. There the leader approaches him, who takes off his helmet and reveals himself to be Vert's father. The last film ends with this open ending.

Teams

Teku

This is a fairly young team whose focus is on tuning their vehicles. They also value as much high-tech as possible in their vehicles. It is led by Nolo Pasaro. He took over the team from his brother Tone Pasaro, who died in a race with the leader of the Metal Maniacs, Tork Maddox. The color of the vehicles is orange, blue and white.

Metal maniacs

The Metal Maniacs team put their vehicles together themselves. They love fast, rapid, if destructive races. Although they hate Team Teku , they are actually some of the good guys on the show. Because they too are fighting the Racing Drones . Because of their demeanor, their vehicles are quite aggressive and painted in rather dark colors. Their leader is called Tork Maddox.

Racing Drones

Racing Drones is the team of the "king drone" Gelorum. The team consists of Gelorum and her two assistants RD-L1 and RD-S1, which are heavily armed combat robots, with RD-L1 being the "right hand" of Gelorum. Gelorum itself is a sophisticated drone. The color of the vehicles is green-black. Their focus is on destruction and cheating.

Silencerz

The "specialty" of the Silencerz is the silent switching off. You can't necessarily say they are evil because they hacked the Racing Drones data as well. The vehicles are decorated in silver and a dark purple. In the series, the main secrets of this organization will gradually be revealed.
