The district of Hotan ( Chinese 和田县 , Pinyin Hétián Xiàn ; Uighur خوتەن ناھىيىسى, Hotən Naⱨiyisi ) is a district of the Hotan administrative district in the south of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the northwest of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 41,403.17 km² and has a population of 280,000.
