The hotel Alsik (Steigenberger Alsik Hotel & Spa) is an account opened on May 6, 2019 Hotel in the Danish town of Sønderborg .

The hotel is operated by the RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group based in Hamburg .

history

In 2006, the architect Frank Gehry started a master plan for the former industrial port of Sønderborg, which included a complete redesign of the port. The citizens of Sønderborg were able to contribute their ideas to the project. Almost 800 proposals were received and incorporated into this plan. This plan was presented on October 31, 2008 by Frank Gehry. This plan envisages ten construction projects, nine of which are private and one public, the Multikulturhuset, which opened in 2017.

One of the private projects was the Hotel Alsik, for the construction of which the Bitten & Mads Clausens Fund - owner of the Danfoss company in Nordborg - together with the pension company PFA Pension invested over 600 million DKK. The architect Louis Becker of the Danish architectural office Henning Larsen Architects , which also designed the Copenhagen Royal Opera , was responsible for the realization of the hotel building .

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 13, 2015. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated on April 12, 2018.

Technical specifications

The 70 meter high building has 19 floors and is Sønderborg's new landmark. The Alssund , the archipelago and the landscape around Sønderborg can be viewed from the visitor terrace on the 17th floor, 64 meters above sea level.

The hotel is the largest 4-star conference and business hotel in the region and has the largest spa and wellness area in Denmark on 4500 square meters. It has 190 rooms, including 20 junior suites and suites, three restaurants, a café and a bar, trademarks of the well-known Danish celebrity chef Jesper Koch . There is also 1,500 square meters of event space with nine meeting and banquet rooms and a boardroom.

The hotel is 76% climate neutral.
